Hospital
The Nueces Canyon has a fully functioning volunteer Emergency Medical Service (EMS) that responds to 911 calls. However, for all hospital needs people must travel the 40 miles to Uvalde or further to Del Rio, San Antonio, Kerrville or San Angelo. Air Medivac is available if the emergency that is happening requires it. The Air Medivac is through the Methodist Hospital System in San Antonio.
General Health Center
For general health issues, Canyon Health is a community clinic that is open Monday through Friday and is parented Community Health Center located in Uvalde. Other options for general health is local doctors in Rocksprings, Uvalde or Leakey.
Retirement Home
Camp Wood is home to Cedar Hills Geriatric Center, the only nursing home type facility in the area unless one looks at the Uvalde community. Once owned by the City of Camp Wood, Cedar Hills is now privately owned and operated. The center sits atop a small hill on State Hwy 55 at the south end of Camp Wood and has a beautiful front view filled with large pecan trees and inviting surrounding.
