Nueces Country Smokehouse Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting!

Camp Wood—On Friday, February 17, 2012 at 9 a.m. the Nueces Country Smokehouse officially opened their doors with a large crowd of community residents, dignitaries, and friends. Present with the Carl and Fredlyn Wideman to cut the ribbon were Mayor Emma Dean, First State Bank CEO Dick Geries and Camp Wood Branch Manager Debra Hicks, Chamber of Commerce President Ben Cox and Director Becky Williams, along with employees, friends, and customers.
The Nueces Country Smokehouse opened their doors and celebrated all weekend with products demos, food samples and more during the business hours of 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The smokehouse is located just south of Camp Wood at 1029 South Hwy 55.
The opportunity to take a tour of this facility opened up last week by owner Carl Wideman. Everyone has seen the construction going on since last fall but this place is pretty spectacular on the inside as well.
The Nueces Country Smokehouse will be offering hot sandwiches and basket entrees with six different choices of meat and will be a take-out food facility with self-serve outdoor dining on the patio. However, rotisserie chicken will be their signature food item with the availability of side items such as coleslaw, potato salad and beans.
Because the facility processes and packages meat, the building will be a USDA state inspected facility. Deer processing proved to be successful this past season and the walk-in freezers were packed. Check with them for package processing deals. Wideman also installed a state of the art smoker that fully cooks a variety of meats with variety of different smoke flavors such as hickory, pecan, and mesquite.
So come on out to the Nueces Country Smokehouse, pick out a steak, let them cook it for you, then grab some sides and enjoy a picnic on the porch. But before you leave, you can grab some Texas made products such as hot sauce, wine, fresh cut steaks or some beer and groceries. Be watching for weekly specials!
The Smokehouse is located just south of downtown Camp Wood at 1029 S. Hwy 55 or give them a call at 830-597-4242. They are open Wednesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
